About Kate Baker
Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Reiki

Kate Baker has been practicing massage therapy and bodywork for 12 years. A 1992 graduate of Northern Lights School of Massage (now Centerpoint), she studied Swedish massage and deep tissue techniques such as trigger point therapy and cross fiber friction. She has studied locally with osteopath Dr. Richard Hruby and is certified as a practitioner of Connective Tissue Massage through the Center for Structural Integration in Miami, FL. Kate is also a Reiki practitioner, with certification through the 2nd degree. She has a solid practical knowledge of anatomy and is a continuing student of Inyegar yoga.

Services:

	Swedish Massage: relaxation massage, using oil, generally moderate pressure; may be combined with deep tissue techniques. Client is undressed, draped with sheet and blanket.
	Trigger Point Therapy: deep tissue work: application of direct pressure at trigger point sites to dissipate pain and possible radiating pain patterns.
	Cross Fiber Friction: deep muscle work: working deeply across muscle fibers to break up adhesions (scar tissue).
	Connective Tissue Massage: work on the myofascia to release contraction and adhesion in the fascia. Therapist hooks the fascia and stretches it. There are many layers of fascia in the body; the superficial layers are addressed. No oil or lotion is used. Client wears underwear, or bathing suit (2 pieces for women).
	Reiki: hands on energy work. This very relaxing treatment adds and balances energy in the body. Client is clothed.

Most modalities can be blended.
